Phase 5: Installation of Styrofoam panels and floor joists

Once the carreolas (c- channels) are welded into place, joists are measured for the exact dimensions and carefully cut. Angle iron is welded to the carreolas as  support for each wooden floor joist. Joists will be anchored to the Amarillo center post.

The structure conveys the imageniery of the past while incorporating cutting edge building techniques i.e., styrofoam encased in a steel mesh. The habitat commands a 20 ft. elevation above a meandering stream. In the native tongue it would be referred to as Tambo

The exterior walls after being repellado (a very thin coating of cement) will be painted and covered in specially treated split bamboo  This treatment will aid in conserving the wood. There are many steps in preparing bamboo. First mature bamboo must be harvested in the menguante.  Then dried for 2 weeks , then split (see video) . Lastly coated with a solution of  borax or boric acid depending on availability.

The cutting of bamboo in this video depicts a traditional

technique with the machete.
